Susan + Jeff's Classic Berkeley Engagement

Boy meets girl at party. Boy likes girl. Girl tells boy to stop talking and just kiss her already. And that’s the “meet cute” story of this incredible duo.

Susan and Jeff are both in the fast paced exciting world of film and tv, with Susan being a kick-ass publicist for Disney and Jeff, a show writer! We really wanted to brainstorm the perfect location for their engagement session, since their free time together is a precious commodity with the demands of their careers to consider. The two of them met while attending UC Berkeley so it only seemed right that their engagement session take place where it all began.

The day started with coffee and a delicious breakfast at a nearby place where Susan told me about how it was the favorite spot where parents would take their kids out to eat when visiting. It was so sweet to hear Jeff and Susan comment on how they were totally going to be those parents when the time came. It truly melted my heart to hear them talk so excitedly about their future plans!

Since neither of them had been back to Berkeley since they graduated, we made sure to hit up all their favorite iconic spots around the university campus, starting with the beautiful Campanile and ending outside Sather Gate! It was commencement weekend while we were there, so the campus was lively and hopping with recent graduates and their proud parents, so I really had to flex my pro muscles to ensure the backgrounds stayed as clear as humanly possible. They both took turns sharing the most hilarious stories of their frat house and sorority shenanigans that I shan’t dare to repeat here, but trust me when I say they were “spicy.” I could tell the whole day was really bringing back such wonderful memories for the two of them, and at one point I overheard them saying how their relationship had really come full circle being back where it all began.

The entire weekend had me speechless. And not just because it was a rare, gorgeous sunny day in NorCal. The experience was so much more than taking gorgeous photos. Susan and Jeff spoiled me with their company, their joy, and delicious pizza! I seriously can’t wait to tell you more about their incredible love story and their Halloween wedding planned by Back Patio Event Design is gonna be legend-wait for it-DARY. LEGENDARY!
